Blonde Girl + Blonde Horse = Epic Spring

Gen and Summer met me out in Oyama where cherry blossoms proved to be very abundant! Gen was my first contest winner a few months ago, and boy did she work hard for this shoot!
From the get go there was a bond between the two ... we had beautiful lighting, blossoms everywhere and just when it doesn't get any better an AWESOME 100yr old house gets put into our lap.. not literally of course!
I'm not sure what it is about an old farm house that can make a photographer's heart beat faster and make you feel like a kid in a candy store. I'm not kidding we're strangely addicted to cool props, retro furniture and the PERFECT location!
Being the country girl that I am, anything painted peeling and rustic is totally me!
Anyway, I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed taking them.
XoXo

Kyli + Disco = Cowgirl UP

Kyli was the first person to contact me after my Hawaiian Honeymoon (and holy Hanna it was hard to be away from my phone/email, fairly sure I'm addicted to technology). She was finishing up her school year and wanted to some "just because" photos!
I love meeting someone with the same passion as me, not just horses but barre racing!
These two were awesome! Disco was such a lady, always ears up and looking pretty! You could clearly see the common respect between them both.
Thank you so much Kyli!
I'll see you at some races this year ;)

Movember + The Dobsons = Awesome Family!

How to sum up this day... I can't tell you how much fun and how easy these guys were to shoot.
The Dobsons are an easy going, fun loving and beautiful family!
I am so lucky to get to witness these kind of emotions! We had a great time in the snow (and if they all had mits I would have easily gotten them into a snowball fight!). After a small break between shoots I got to shoot Marisa with her beautiful equine, Mater (short for Tomatoe). When the love is evident my job just gets that much easier!
Thank you all for a wonderful Sunday afternoon.

Kyra + Misty = Vibrant Fall

I swear Kelowna only lacks ONE thing and that is vibrant colours on our trees. Not enough maples, every time October arrives I crave the oranges yellows and reds!
Well did we luck out, just so happens that on Kyra's family farm there is a great big Maple with leaves that matched Kyras beautiful hair!
If you know this girl you know how great she is, so honest and sincere and you also know she's another farm girl that doesn't get into a dress to often!
Kyra was very well behaved.. Misty well she had her focus on other things, this is very common with my four legged clients.
I'm grateful for having this girl in my life and so happy I could capture the bond she has with her stunner of a horse!
XOXO

Annie + Girl = Persistance Pays Off

Annie had contacted me roughly six months ago, wanting photos and really loving the equine side of Kay Photos.
I offered to lend my horse as a model - however the timing was off and so we postponed.
Thankfully Annie never gave up! Today we got to finally get those photos.
I think sometimes it takes a great client to remind us just how lucky we are. Annie touched a horse for the first time and I really do love the effect it has on people. We played in an Orchard (and I have to admit that I forget how foreign the country is to city people).
I'm so glad that this stunner of a woman never gave up and we got to accomplish some great photographs! Annie - I hope you get to go home to Vancouver and see your family soon, you are a wonderful person!!
Thanks
K

Nicole + Smokey = Picture Perfect

Nicole and Smokey met me on a beautiful Autumn day, the sun was warm and the subjects oh so photogenic! Smokey was a perfect gentleman, ears always up and nice and quiet. From 1 hour spent with this dashing couple you could tell the love was unconditional!
Thank you both for coming out and playing on old trucks and in cow pastures!
I had a blast!!
